Rockin’ the Alternative by Morticia Knight

To celebrate the launch of What’s his Passion? Totally Bound Publishing are giving away a bundle of great prizes. Enter for your chance to win here:

Happily-Ever-After, Maybe-After or Never-After?

Most romance novels have the requisite happily-ever-after, although there are many romance readers who are also fine with a happy-for-now. They can handle ‘maybe’ for their MC’s. Rarely seen in romance, and almost universally frowned upon is the never-after. I can’t imagine the point in reading a romance where the couple — or threesome, foursome, etc. — don’t form some sort of a committed bond by the end. That sucks. I see enough of that in real life — I don’t need to pay for it.

Okay, okay. I’ll calm down. Sometimes I want to read something filled with more drama and angst — I do like some oomph to my story — but…they still have to fall in love and be together at the end. Sorry, I can’t get away from it. There’s other fiction I adore where there isn’t a hint of love in the air. There’s non-fiction I read that is filled with gruesome true crime details. Those typically involve more hate than love. But when I read romance — it needs to actually have romance.

If the author has written something engaging enough that I become invested in the character’s lives, I don’t want to have the rug pulled out from under me at the end. They can struggle and hate and fight and misunderstand (not cheat…nonononono) to their heart’s content, as long as they are safely ensconced in one another’s arms after it’s all over. That’s a romance novel.

On a final note, I write romance novels and stories. Bearing that in mind, I will give you a permanent spoiler to every book ending Morticia Knight will ever write. Here’s the gist of it: “…and they lived happily ever after.”

Blurb for Rockin’ the Alternative:
The chance of a lifetime and the touch of a rock god are offered to music journalist Bryan Gallagher on the same day. Embracing one is easy, but resisting the other is harder than he’d anticipated—especially since Bryan has never been with a man.
It could be his dream assignment. Aubrey King, the legendary god of alternative rock music, has requested to meet with journalist and writer Bryan about penning the star’s memoir. Aubrey and his dark, angsty songs are the reason Bryan was inspired to become a leading rock journalist. His obsession for his career has alienated the women in his life, but Bryan doesn’t care. What really matters to him is the music.
Aubrey King has been out of the music scene for almost ten years—ever since his alternative rock band, Falling in Stereo, broke up. Questions about his sexual preferences have always surrounded him, and now that he’s ready to make a solo comeback, he wants to tell his story, his way. He’s followed journalist Bryan Gallagher’s career for a while and believes that Bryan’s obvious passion for music mirrors his own. He loves his writing style, but is also enraptured by the boyishly handsome writer.
Brian finds pushing his fanboy nervousness aside is difficult when Aubrey finally stands before him. He’s amazed at how little Aubrey has changed—his intense gaze, his unique style and his still youthful looks epitomise the star he’s always been. But Aubrey’s vulnerability when he sings and shares the deeply personal lyrics of a new song triggers something in Bryan that he never knew was there. The need to give himself to Aubrey, to let the rock god do to him what he’s never before desired a man to do.

Snake Charmer by Carol Lynne

Join Carol Lynne on her blog tour to celebrate the release of Snake Charmer. Find out more about her and her writing as each day she reveals answers to more questions.

Don’t miss out on the fun by entering for your chance to win a bundle of eBooks from Carol’s backlist with Totally Bound Publishing here: https://www.totallybound.com/competition/snake-charmer-giveaway?utm_source=literarynymphs&utm_medium=blogtour&utm_campaign=snakecharmerblogtour

Tell us about the main characters in Snake Charmer
Riley Banks is an accountant who is trying to deal with an abusive ex. When his ex confronts him in the parking lot at work, Gabrielo ‘Snake’ Barbas, the man in charge of security, comes to his rescue. The two men are total opposites. Riley is an average-looking man with glasses and low self-esteem.
Snake is a sexy tattooed ex-mercenary whose heart wears the shroud of his past. Although killing a man, even for a good cause, was never easy for him, he did it well. After leaving the life of a paid killer, Snake is desperately searching for normalcy, but trying to fit back into society hasn’t been easy. I think Snake’s most endearing quality is how he sees Riley. The saying, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, really fits this story.

Blurb for Snake Charmer:
Sometimes it takes finding an opposite to show us the beauty within ourselves.

When security consultant and ex-mercenary, Gabrielo ‘Snake’ Barbas, thwarts an attack of one of his co-workers, Riley Banks, he takes it upon himself to keep the smaller man safe. His job is made harder when he discovers the attacker is actually Riley’s ex-boyfriend, a ruthless man from a very wealthy and powerful family.

After a night of passion, Snake decides to take Riley far away from Richmond, Virginia to a town in Wyoming for the annual Cattle Valley Days celebration. He should have known that sex with Riley wouldn’t be enough, but he feels he has nothing else to give such a nice guy. Riley is the sexiest man Snake’s ever taken to his bed despite Riley’s claim otherwise.

Riley knows he’s average-looking at best, so why does Snake continue to flatter him? It’s obvious he’s not going to kick Snake out of bed, even after Snake informs him that sex is all he has to give. Why does Snake see him so differently than the rest of the world?

While Riley is busy trying to figure out the man who touches him like no other has before, Snake is busy trying to protect him from a monster in a business suit.

Author Bio:

An avid reader for years, one day Carol Lynne decided to write her own brand of erotic romance. Carol juggles between being a full-time mother and a full-time writer. These days, you can usually find Carol either cleaning jelly out of the carpet or nestled in her favourite chair writing steamy love scenes.

Picturing Lysander by L.M. Somerton

Picturing Lysander

Photography, like love, should have no limits.
Lysander Brock is a talented photographer and capturing the perfect picture is his passion. His work takes him all over the world and he is famous for his willingness to take risks for the perfect image.
Kyle Dawson is tasked by his mysterious employer to obtain Brock’s services for a dangerous job and he’s prepared to use any method to ensure that the young photographer does as he’s told. Breaking and entering and blackmail are just tools of his trade.
Despite the circumstances, the spark of attraction between Brock and Kyle is strong. Brock’s addiction to adrenaline-fuelled adventure holds him captive, just as much as Kyle’s brooding dominant appeal. As a fragile trust builds between them, Kyle takes a gamble and tells Brock the truth about his mission. Can Brock accept the challenges ahead—as a photographer and as a man?
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of mild BDSM.

Excerpt:
“You need your head read, young man. You treat photography like an extreme sport.”
“And your bedside manner needs some work, Doc.” Brock winced and gritted his teeth as another needle punctured his flesh.
“Would you rather I patted your head and gave you a sugar lump?”
“Is that what you did in the army?” Brock often thought that his doctor forgot he was now dealing with delicate civilians.
“Most squaddies would run away screaming at the sight of a needle if it didn’t mean disciplinary action. I often wish the same principles could be applied to my patients here.”
Brock squirmed. “I don’t remember vaccinations ever being this painful.”
The doctor grinned. “Probably because you never had to have six at the same time before. Okay, that was the last one. You can pull your trousers up.”
He peeled off his gloves and threw the used syringe into a special bin that his nurse held out for him.
“You may experience some flu-like symptoms over the next twenty-four hours, and you’ll probably get some bruising, but if you feel any worse than that, give me a call. When are you traveling?”
“Ten days time.” Brock smiled and got to his feet. “Then I’ll be out there for four weeks.”
“Well, good luck. Stay safe. Bring me back another picture for the wall in reception.”
Brock pulled the consulting room door closed behind him but still overheard the doctor as he said, “Colombia! I don’t know whether he’s brave, stupid or just too young to know any better!”
Brock waited for the nurse to respond, but nothing happened.
“Linda! Quit mooning over him and get the room ready for the next patient.”
“But he’s so gorgeous, Doc. I could definitely be tempted to get unprofessional with him!”
Brock winced. Not in this lifetime.
The doctor chuckled mischievously. “Forget it! He’s more likely to go for me than you.”
There was a groan. “Oh, for goodness sake, why are all the pretty ones either married or gay? That is a serious loss to womankind.”
Brock shook his head, stepped quietly away from the door and headed for the exit. Outside the surgery, the weather was doing its best impression of a tropical monsoon, though without the heat. The rain beat down onto pavements already awash after days of continuous downpours. In the distance, thunder rumbled ominously and the sky had a threatening purple hue that spoke of more rain to come.
Brock looked up just as lightning split the sky. The rain got even harder. Stoically he turned up the collar of his waterproof coat and grimaced at the trickle of cold water that immediately slid down his neck. In seconds, his hair was soaked and plastered to his head. Brock hunched his shoulders and lengthened his stride toward home. It wasn’t strictly his home. He was just house-sitting while his brother, sister-in-law and two young nephews spent their annual fortnight’s holiday on one of the Balearic Islands—he couldn’t remember which one.
Brock spent such a lot of time traveling on photographic assignments that he’d never bothered to get his own place. When he was in England, he spent the time with his brother’s family or returned to his mum and dad’s rambling old place in Northumberland. Their house was so big, and they were both so busy with various pet projects and charities, that he could probably have lived there full time without them even noticing his presence. Brock smiled to himself at the thought—he was very fond of his eccentric parents.
Brock soon arrived at the edge of the new estate where his brother’s house sat on a decent-sized plot, halfway down a tree-lined avenue. Despite the miserable weather, he felt uncomfortably warm and was glad to make it to the sanctuary of the front hall, where a small puddle gathered around his feet as he stripped off dripping outdoor clothes and boots. Feeling progressively worse, he met his own piercing blue eyes in the hall mirror and grimaced. His skin looked clammy and his hands shook a little.

Size Matters by Sean Michael

To celebrate the launch of What’s his Passion? Totally Bound Publishing are giving away a bundle of great prizes. Enter for your chance to win here: https://www.totallybound.com/competition/whats-his-passion-launch?utm_source=literarynymphs&utm_medium=blogtour&utm_campaign=sizemattersblogtour

Happily Ever After

It’s the dream, isn’t it? It’s the goal we learn as little children. All the fairy tales start and end the same way. Once upon a time there was… and they lived happily ever after.

I’ve been asked how important Happily Ever After is to me, and I have to say, it’s damn important. It’s my goal every time I have new characters to write. I want them to have at least a happy for now, but a happy ever after is even better. There is enough unhappiness, meanness and bad stuff in the world; I don’t want to write that.

I don’t even like writing the angst (though I do have to say that that’s when I really get a lot of writing done, because I’m usually compelled to write as fast as I can and not stop until I’ve gotten through the bad stuff, the hard stuff as I call it.)

The biggest compliments I get are the ones where readers tell me that my books make them feel good, are their comfort read. I get a lot of joy from writing and I want to put that in my books.

So happily ever after? Yeah, that’s really important to me and you can bet that Trey and Lucien get their happy for now in Size Matters and will have a happy every after by the end of the novel I’m currently working on.

Sean Michael
smut fixes everything

Blurb for Size Matters:

Trey is a natural submissive, but no one wants to take on a blind man. When Trey and Lucien hit it off, it could be the answer to Trey’s prayers.

When Lucien meets his favorite author at a book signing, he's surprised to discover the man is not only blind, but much younger than he’d expected. He’s even more surprised to discover that Trey shares a passion of his—BDSM.

Trey loves his life as a horror mystery writer, but it is a lonely one. Immediately drawn to Lucien, he’s surprised and intrigued when Lucien ferrets out his interests in certain aspects of BDSM right from the start.

Is Lucien exactly who Trey’s been waiting for, or is it too good to be true?

Author Bio: Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organising his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and pursuing the kama sutra by channelling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago".

A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.

Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.

Sweet Secrets by Constance Munday

To celebrate the release of Sweet Secrets, Totally Bound are giving you the chance to win a bundle of eBooks.

Blurb for Sweet Secrets:
What will happen when dark secrets threaten a perfect recipe for happiness and newfound love?
Left on her own, Carrie Ann decides it is time to escape her past, empower herself and overcome her confidence issues by turning her secret hobby of erotic cake design into a business. Her world is then turned upside down when she bumps into dynamic and sexy Dominic. Unwittingly, Carrie Ann sows the seeds of disaster from day one, weaving a web of deceit, and before she knows it the lies are multiplying.
As news of her baking brilliance spreads, romance grows. Now, only one thing can ruin their happiness and that is Carrie Ann’s dark deceptions and the battle she is fighting within herself. Will she be strong enough to overcome a past that is set to destroy her dreams for the future and tell Dominic the truth, or will she lose him forever?

Often Hot and Sticky

Carrie Ann is not superior at the beginning of ‘Sweet Secrets,’ indeed she never becomes superior and is very understated. She has no cause to be bolshy because she has been educated in the school of hard knocks and she is an ordinary girl like you and I. There are no rich millionaires in this one, unless you count passing ships in the night like Marcus, the Michelin starred chef at The Manor, Latham Crosswick — world famous patissier and Carrie’s erotic dreamboat and in the end, Carrie Ann’s client, socialite Samantha, a woman who turns out to be an unlikely friend. So, sorry to disappoint you, no rich and successful leads in this one for you ladies. This book features on you and I, and what we might achieve if we were in Carrie Ann’s shoes. It also features on a love interest in Dominic, who while he might have a famous father, has eschewed nepotism in favour of making it on his own.
As all my books do, I hope this one is a message of hope and leaves you with the sense of, ‘I could do that.’ I set out for it to be about the normal kind of people you might encounter every day and in particular in a typical English village. I have also chosen an older woman and a younger man as my leads because romance has so many nuances. The fact Dominic is younger, is what spurs Carrie Ann into her deceit and soon things are spiralling out of control.
‘Sweet Secrets,’ is many things, so I hope it will appeal to a lot people. It is chicklit, it is romance and it is a touch of erotica while not being overpoweringly so. It is sweet, funny, often hot and sticky and at times it is a recipe for disaster, but by the end I hope it has become a nicely crafted gateau of interest. There are also moments that make you pause for thought, as you ponder the crisis Carrie Ann is in mentally and wonder how will she wrestle with the prison she has fashioned for herself, win the man she loves and chase her dream. I hope it leaves you with a sweet taste in your mouth by the last line because I loved writing it and so hope you will enjoy reading it.

Mountains to Climb by T.A. Chase

To celebrate the release of Mountains to Climb as part of the new What’s his Passion? Imprint, Totally Bound is giving you the chance to win some fabulous prizes!

A Day in the Life of T.A. Chase-

Thank you for having me here today. I’m T.A. Chase and I write m/m romance. My newest release, Mountains to Climb, is one of the first six books launched under the What’s His Passion? imprint.
I thought I’d tell you what a day in my life is like, though it might be very boring for you.
When I get up in the morning, depending on the time, I usually have breakfast then go for a run. I just started running last year and found that I enjoyed it. It wakes me up and gets my blood pumping. Running clears my mind so that I’m ready to face what I need to do that morning. Then I stop by Starbucks to pick up my daily dose of caffeine.
Once I get cleaned up and dressed, I fire up the laptop and check my emails, Facebook, and Twitter. Make sure nothing needs my attention before I dive into my story. I try to get at least two thousands words written a day, but if I do more, I’m thrilled.
Of course, I keep my chat box up so I can talk with Devon Rhodes when she gets on. We talk pretty much every day while we both work on whatever we have to do that day.
At some point, I stop for lunch and dinner. But I tend to keep writing until I can’t keep my eyes open, which means I tend to go to bed late. Oh and I’ll stop later on in the evening to workout as well. I will write every day of the week, taking time off when I want to visit with my family or friends.
Now that you are thoroughly bored with what I do throughout the day, I’ll say that each day is different. Some days I give myself a break and read a book or go do something else instead of sit and type.
When I write, I usually have either the TV or music on. I like having the noise in the background. For the most part, it doesn’t distract me from what I’m doing. At times, I think it helps me focus on whatever book I’m working on.
So that’s a day in my life, not very exciting, is it? So much for a writer’s life being glamorous or thrilling. It’s mostly just sitting in my apartment, typing on my laptop.
Thanks so much for having me here.

Blurb:
Sometimes the past can be the biggest mountain to climb.
Toby Schwartzel has never forgotten Jensen Brockhoff, the man he loved and the one who disappeared six years ago. He thinks he’s moved on, but when Jensen appears again and wants to explain what happened, Toby realises he hasn’t gotten over Jensen. He’d only built up walls to keep from being hurt again.
Jensen Brockhoff left New York City and Toby Schwartzel for several reasons. All of them had to do with drugs and alcohol. He’s clean now and the only thing he’s addicted to is mountain climbing. His passion for the sport has got him through the last six years. But after a particularly harrowing fall on Denali, Jensen knows he has to go back to tell Toby the truth.
Will Toby and Jensen discover they’d never moved past the love they had for each other all
those years ago? Or are the mountains between them too high to climb?

Impractical Magic By MJ O’Shea

Impractical Magic
By MJ O’Shea
Publisher Dreamspinner Press
Genre M/M Contemporary

Description:
Sequel to Newton's Laws of Attraction

Physics teacher Fenton Keene is looking forward to a summer of doing nothing but hanging out with friends and maybe getting into a little trouble. With his best friend out of town, trouble seems like the best option and it comes in the form of his building's newest temporary resident, a gorgeous fireman named Kevin.

Fen's been attracted to men before, but this is the first time he's considered acting on it. And act he does.

Fen and Kevin have an intense summer fling. Just in time for Kevin to go home, more feelings develop than Fen can ignore, but they don't stop Kevin from leaving. Once Kevin's gone, Fen can't stop thinking about him. That's when reality sets in and Fen faces the difficulties of distance and fidelity, while Kevin balks at Fen's reluctance to tell his friends and family. They just need to find a way to make their magic more practical.

Impratical Magic Excerpt

“You mind if I sit here?”

Fen sat up at the sound of a low, smooth voice. He was disoriented for a second, sweating from the heat of the day but blind, stuck in muted gray. Then he remembered putting his T-shirt over his face when he felt it getting burned earlier. He dragged the fabric down and squinted at the sudden, overwhelming sunlight. A broad-shouldered dark blotch grew sharper by the second.

“Um, no. It’s fine,” he mumbled. He’d sat his book and his iPod on the deck chair next to him. He reached out and fumbled for them until a warm, calloused hand slid both items into his.

“Thanks.”

The guy’s laugh was as low and sweet as his voice. “You okay?”

“Just a bit sun blind and I don’t have my contacts in so you pretty much look like a dark blurry mountain.”

“Uh, thanks, I think.” Another chuckle. And Fen wasn’t usually one to react to things strongly, but damn if that chuckle didn’t send a whole flock of shivers flying up his spine.

This guy has to be new.

Fen  had been at the pool all morning. Hell, he’d been at the pool most days that week and in the building for over two years. He’d know if he’d heard a voice like that before. Especially with the way his body seemed to react to it.

Fen blinked at the hand that seemed to materialize out of nowhere right in front of his chest, which was still mournfully pale and freckling more than tanning. “I’m Kevin. Just moved into the building a few days ago.”

So he is new. Summer just got a bit more interesting. Fen checked himself. Wait, why did I think that?
He grasped Kevin’s big, long-fingered hand with his, a bit cautiously. “Fenton, but everyone calls me Fen.”

There were the shivers again. What the hell? He had to see this guy. But wait. That meant…. Fen wanted to groan.

The combination of the over-chlorinated pool and his contacts had made his eyes itch, so he’d simply slung his nerdy glasses on when he’d left for the pool earlier. Now he had to put them back on or else he’d stay in Blind City. But first he had to find the damn things. Fen swept his hands along the ground until he found his glasses. He shoved them on his face and stood so he wasn’t looking up at Mister Shivers from his back. Of course when he stood, it was on his tube of sunscreen, which then proceeded to squirt all over his other leg. He screamed and jumped like a little girl, and then wished he could disappear into the pool and never return.

Kevin chuckled. “You okay?”

“Other than being terminally awkward? Yes, I’m fine.” Fen wiped desperately at the thick spooge of lotion that had made its way all up the inside of his thigh and under his shorts.
What a fantastic first impression he made.

“I like your glasses. They make you look smart.”

Fen decided the guy must be fucking with him. He looked up and just about choked. And they make you look like…. Dammmmnnnn.

Earlier shivers be damned. His whole body melted when Fen finally got a good long look at this not-so-mysterious new guy. Yeah. Damn was pretty much the only word his brain had room for. Tall, at least compared to Fen, with dark brown hair that curled up at the ends, big brown eyes, gorgeous smile, golden tanned skin, and his body… fuck. He looked young, probably not much out of the jailbait range, but Fen had to stop himself from drooling visibly. He was already drooling like a damn St. Bernard inside.

See, the thing was, Fen wasn’t exactly straight. Exactly.

He’d spent most of his teenage years panting over the girls who weren’t into his pale, skinny science-geek ass, but a few times he’d noticed when one of his friends stripped off his shirt, or when his college roommate came back from the shower with his towel slung low on his hips. He’d noticed… and maybe got a warm, melty feeling in his belly a time or two. But he’d never done anything about it. He didn’t know why. He just hadn’t. And he was twenty-nine, not a kid anymore, and there was this seriously fucking hot guy standing there, and… was he flirting? Fen didn’t even know. But for the first time ever his body really, really wanted to know. No little warm, melty feeling. That was like saying Niagara Falls was a leaky faucet.

“Uh,” he laughed awkwardly. Glasses. Right. We’re talking about my glasses. “Thanks.
They’re pretty dorky.”

Kevin just shrugged and dropped into the seat next to Fen’s. That’s when Fen noticed there were at least six other empty loungers just as close to the pool as his and not next to anyone else.

Hmmmm, Interesting.

He sank back into his lounger, lay back, and closed his eyes again, determined not to make anything of it even if he wanted nothing more than to crawl into young Kevin’s lap and touch.
“Hey, you might want to put some more sunblock on—you know, on your shoulders instead of your leg.” Kevin chuckled. Fen wanted to groan. Like he didn’t get enough shit already from his friends for being a moron. Now Hot Guy was doing it too? “You’re getting kind of pink,” Kevin gestured at Fen’s chest.

Wanna help? Fen nearly choked on his own spit. That would go over super well in the first three minutes after they’d shaken hands.

“Thanks. Gotta love Irish skin.” He smiled—at least he hoped it looked like a smile and not some sort of breathy sigh—and reached for his bottle of 50 SPF. “You need any?” he asked, offering the bottle.

Suave. Seriously. Maybe next I can flop on my stomach and moan out “do me first.”
Kevin smiled. His grin was brilliant and easy and made him look so young and sweet and kissable. Fen wanted to kiss him. A lot. He thought.

“Thanks. I’m okay though,” Kevin said shyly. The shyness was cute, and totally at odds with a guy who obviously had no problem plunking himself down right to Fen when there were empty chairs all over the place.

Fen didn’t know what else to say, which was something that had seriously never happened to him before. He just shrugged and lay back on his chair for the third time. He wished he could come up with something witty—banter, flirtation, anything—to keep the conversation going with his suddenly shy new neighbor.

Yeah. He had nothing.

I’m Mj O’Shea, author of erotic romance–well all sorts of romance actually, and that’s just what’s been published so far!
I grew up, and still live, in sunny Washington state and while I love to visit other places, I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.

I spent my childhood writing stories. Sometime in my early teens, the stories turned to romance. Most of those were about me, my friends, and our favorite tv stars. Hopefully, I’ve come a long way since then…
Right now, I have four books published through Republica Press (click on the link to visit their site), but I’m constantly working on new projects.

When I’m not writing, I love to play the piano and cook and paint pictures…and of course read. It’s nearly impossible to work on my own writing when I’ve gotten myself hooked into a great new book:) I like sparkly girly girl things, own at least twenty different colored headbands, and I have a little white dog with a ginger eye spot who sits with me when I write. Sometimes she comes up with ideas for me too…when she’s not napping.
